John Craft was Nate and Betsy's RUF campus minister at Rhodes college, making him the only ordained priest they are both close to. He and Betsy both enjoy disregarding formalism while he and Nate share a habit of silently staring at their interlocutor for minutes on end once they run out of conversation topics.

Ruth is Nate’s older sister. Also a Rhodes alum, Ruth always brings her fun sense of humor. She recently got her nursing degree and lives in Spain with her husband, Marshall.
