Nate and Betsy first met on a Wednesday night in October in 2018 at RUF, though they had both noticed each other earlier. Nate was a sophomore and Betsy a fresh-faced freshman. Nearly a year later, they finally went on their first date, and that was that. Nate and Betsy quickly became inseparable and were known by their friends for their embarrassing displays of PDA and elderly behavior. At Rhodes, they enjoyed drinking coffee, taking drives, and leaving parties early together. For their first spring break together, they spent a few days in Nate's hometown of Austin, TX before spending a few days in Betsy's hometown of El Dorado, AR... which turned into a two month stay. Nate and Betsy have comforted, encouraged, and commiserated with each other in the midst of growing up in a pandemic school year. On April 25, 2021, Nate took Betsy to one of their favorite spots on campus and asked her to marry him. Nate is excited for his first year as an intern at RUF's international ministry at Georgia Tech in Atlanta while Betsy completes her final year at Rhodes. We hope that you will be able to join us to celebrate the next chapter of their life.
