On the morning of July 3, 2011, two star crossed lovers met for for the first time. As they'd been acquainted via the internet, both of them had their own first impressions. Betsy found some random dude who liked bikes, and Michael received a message from a girl who liked to ride bikes too. After they both determined that the other satisfied the criteria to meet in person, they made plans for a 10 am date at Michael’s favorite breakfast spot. Michael was 5 minutes early, per usual; Betsy 5 minutes late, per usual. The first interaction for people who meet online is always interesting. Pictures are usually not a good representation of what someone looks like in person, and the way one writes can hardly foreshadow how they speak. Both Betsy’s looks and mannerism were not what Michael expected. When he first met Betsy he thought, "Wow, she is way better looking than in photos," which isn't what normally happens with online dating. And her words were spoken by someone smart, responding to his casual, “How are you?” with a formal “I’m well, thank you. How are you?” At that instant, Michael realized she was a different caliber of woman, one who carried herself with confidence and genuine kindness. He was so intrigued with her he even called her for a second date the same day. Being the classy lady Betsy was, she ignored that call and made him wait a few day. Betsy wasn't sure about Michael's Colorado socks or his insistence on meeting in the morning, however, she was intrigued too. Six years later, between bikes, good times and bad, cats, and their home, Betsy and Michael have become inseparable and look forward to adventures ahead. They've found something special in each other. Betsy has shown her love for Michael by cooking the best possible meals ever and challenging him, and Michael continues to make Betsy laugh and remind her to slow down a little. We are all glad that you are a part of our family and our special day. Love, Betsy, Michael, Olive and Apache
