Things To Do

Frederick

Frederick, MD

Kevin used to live here for a few years and many of our cherished first dates took place throughout the city. Take a scenic walk through downtown Frederick or stroll along its famous canal path. There is a surplus of local breweries and restaurants, perfect for our foodie friends.

Sykesville

Sykesville, MD

We lived in this cute, historic microtown for about two years. There are lovely boutiques and great eats. We highly recommend Firehouse Creamery for its ice cream and treats. If you're lucky and book in advance, try the Kate Pearl Tea Room on Main. You could easily explore all of downtown in a single afternoon.

Annapolis

Annapolis, MD

Want the colonial feel of Frederick, but with sailboats? Head to downtown Annapolis. Fun for window shopping and great seafood. Our favorite coffee shop is the Red Bean Cafe. Try their affogato! If you're in town for a while, see if you can catch a show and dinner at Rams Head On Stage. If bourbon and pizza is more your style, try the Fox's Den. And of course, you could always take a tour of the United States Naval Academy nearby.

Ellicott City

Ellicott City, MD

Our current stomping grounds and yet another flavor of colonial downtown. Ellicott City has fun shops and delicious food. Umi is by far our favorite sushi place. For the drinkers in the family, the Judge's Bench is a must - great selection of whisky/bourbon flights for more-than-reasonable rates. If you'd rather walk or hike, the Patuxant Research Refuge and Patapsco State Park are nearby, as well as our favorite local parks, Centennial and Elkhorn. Oh, and don't forget Sapwood! It's our favorite brewery and only 5 minutes from our apartment.
