Looking for a scenic drive with beautiful overlooks of the mountains without the hike? The famous Blue Ridge Parkway (to the south) and Skyline Drive (to the North) is the activity for you. This winding highway will show you some of Virginia's best views right from your car. Allow 2-3 hours from Charlottesville to explore and enjoy.
Carter Mountain Orchard and Cidery
Overlooking Charlottesville and the UVA campus, this orchard sits atop Carter Mountain and offers a variety of local ciders as well as fruit picking (when in season).
Crabtree Falls
Beautiful waterfall hike off the Blue Ridge Parkway. Moderate difficulty. Expect crowds; go early in the day. 1 hour drive SW of Charlottesville.
Humpback Rock
Accessed by a moderate to difficult hiking trail, this prominent outcropping offers sweeping views. If you want a challenging hike with a big reward, this is for you. It will take you longer than you think, so allow plenty of time. 30 mins W of Charlottesville. Recommend using the All Trails App for this and other hikes in the area.
Charlottesville Downtown Historic Mall
Within walking distance from all the hotels listed on our site, explore downtown Charlottesville's historic Mall. This pedestrian walkway features local shops and the best restaurants in town. A perfect place to stroll leisurely or sit for a coffee.
University of Virginia
Within walking distance from the hotels, explore the beautiful campus of the University of Virginia. Founded in 1819 by Thomas Jefferson, it is the flagship university of Virginia and home to the Academical Village, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
