We tried to include as much information as possible, but we might have missed one or two details. If you do find yourself with questions we have not thought of here, please feel free to text or call me (Beth) at (925) 344-2251.
Question

Should I plan to stay overnight in Livermore or Pescadero/Half Moon Bay area?

Answer

We provided hotel information for both areas, even though they are 70 miles apart. Reason being, we are gathering everyone for wine and beer tasting on the Thursday prior to the wedding. This is completely optional. If you cannot fly in that early, not a problem. We will see you at Harley Farms for the ceremony and reception. No need to book a hotel in Livermore if you are NOT participating in the Thursday wine and beer tasting. If you are flying in early, it might make sense for a night in Livermore, and then the rest of the time in Pescadero. Randall and I are going to be overnight in Pescadero starting Friday night through Sunday.

Question

It looks like you mainly recommended Half Moon hotels instead of Pescadero hotels? Should we stay in Half Moon Bay?

Answer

Pescadero is a very small town, with a population of 643 people. There are small bed & breakfast hotels, but my guess is these few locations directly in Pescadero will already be booked due to the summer tourist season. Hence, I recommended hotels in Half Moon Bay, which is less than 20 miles north of Pescadero, along the coast. Depending on traffic conditions, it should take you about 30 minutes or less to drive from Half Moon Bay to Pescadero.

Question

How far is it between Livermore and Pescadero?

Answer

It is about 70 miles from Livermore (where we live & where the wineries are) to Pescadero (where Harley Farms is located.) Depending on the Bay Area traffic, it could take between 90 minutes to 2 hours to get there. The roads to get to Pescadero can have a lot of twists and turns. This is also a popular route with tourists in the summer.

Question

What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

Answer

Please plan to arrive by 3:30 pm. The ceremony will start promptly at 4 pm. Give yourself time to walk the dirt farm road from your parking location to the Secret Garden where the ceremony is being held. The walk is not long, but it is a rougher country (dirt) road. For those who need assistance, we will have a vehicle to take you to the Secret Garden.

Question

What are the average temperatures during the summer?

Answer

The Bay Area is known for its various microclimates, which means it can vary by 30 degrees or more from one location to another. We've learned to bring a sweater or jacket with us everywhere we go. Pescadero is located along the Pacific ocean, so summer temperatures can average low 70s during the day and low 50s at night. If the marine layer (fog) rolls in off the Pacific, it can feel very chilly. Livermore, however, is in a valley surrounded by mountains. Average temperatures in Livermore can be low 90s to the occasional low 100s during the day in summer. Evenings are about mid 50s to low 60s in Livermore.

Question

Should I plan for rain?

Answer

No. August is a very dry month for all of the San Francisco Bay Area. We typically see sunny skies and very low humidity all summer. This is why wildfires are so dangerous in California - we often do not receive any rain from late April until October.

Question

What should I wear to your celebration?

Answer

We struggled with what to call it - in the end, we landed with "California Casual." We highly encourage sensible shoes (high heels are tough due to the dirt road and garden setting.) A nice dress or sundress for the ladies. Slacks and shirt for the men. Tie not needed. Sport coat is completely optional. There will be no tuxedos. No long white wedding dress. If you're thinking flip flops and bikinis, you've gone too far. A hat might be helpful - the wedding ceremony is outside. A sweater or a jacket is a must - often in summer, the fog rolls in and can make it very chilly.

Question

Do you have a wedding registry?

Answer

No, we do not. We do have a honeymoon registry, however. We recognize the expense that a large percentage of you had to incur since you live many states away. We appreciate gifts if you want to bring one, but your most thoughtful gift is celebrating our special day with us. There will be a place designed for cards. To access the honeymoon website, visit the "Registry" tab on this website, or you can copy and paste this link: http://atravelbug.honeymoonwishes.com/Honeymoon-Registry-393585-.html

Question

Are my children invited too?

Answer

Unfortunately, no. This event is an adults only celebration (except for immediate family's children). Dinner is being served in an 110 year old barn, at a long banquet table that only seats 70 people. We regret we cannot invite all members of your family to our celebration. Narrowing down the guest list was a painful process.

Question

Can I bring a date?

Answer

Space is very limited. Please contact Beth for any requests.

Question

Who is in the wedding party?

Answer

We have specifically kept our wedding celebration small and simple. With this in mind, we decided against any attendants in our wedding. We do have family and friends contributing to the wedding music. We will also have family participating in the handfasting ceremony.

Question

Is dinner being served?

Answer

Yes. Harley Farms has arranged for a four course meai. The main entree is venison. Due to the size of our group, we could not offer multiple choices for the main entree. If you are vegan or vegetarian, please specify and we'd be happy to accommodate your needs.

Question

I have a food allergy, can I make a special request?

Answer

Yes. If you have specific dietary restrictions, please let us know when you RSVP.

Question

Will there be a full bar?

Answer

No. Randall and I are providing local craft beer (brewed by Randall.) We will also have champagne and wine, as well as port for the dessert course. All wines are products from our friends' winery, The Singing Winemaker, in Livermore.

Question

Is there a designated smoking area on the property?

Answer

No. As part of our contract with Harley Farms, we agreed to encourage our guests to honor their smoke-free wishes. Wildfires in California have been devastating to many of our fellow Californians. August in California is a very dry month - we often do not see any rain from late April through October in Northern California. Please respect their wishes by not smoking on the property - thanks.

Question

Will there be dancing and music?

Answer

Yes and yes. The barn has an old parlor on the first floor, pretty near perfect as a dance floor. We're keeping it simple, so Spotify and a sound system. If you are one of our multiple friends who sidelines as a musician, we highly recommend you bring your instrument for some outside acoustic music near the firepit. Did I forget to mention s'mores?
