HISTORICAL & CULTURAL PLACES You can’t really claim to have visited Florence without seeing the Uffizi - one of the world’s finest and oldest art galleries, that has housed the world’s masterpieces since the time of Leonardo. The Uffizi holds a collection of priceless works, particularly from the period of the Italian Renaissance, including some absolute masterpieces: Giotto, Piero della Francesca, Botticelli, Leonardo, Raffaello, Michelangelo and Caravaggio.
HISTORICAL & CULTURAL PLACES The Gallery was established in the XVIII century as a teaching facility for students of the adjacent Academy of Fine Arts, founded in 1784 by Grand Duke Peter Leopold of Lorraine. The gallery exhibits the largest number of Michelangelo's sculptures in the world and is best known as the home of Michelangelo's sculpture David (created between 1501 and 1504).
HISTORICAL & CULTURAL PLACES Piazzale Michelangelo (Michelangelo Square) is one of the best viewpoints in Florence, and the most famous observation point to appreciate the panorama of the city in all its splendor. Seeing how the sun falls from the Piazzale Michelangelo over the city of Florence and over the Arno River, is one of the most beautiful and spectacular photographs that will remain imprinted in your mind for a lifetime.
HISTORICAL & CULTURAL PLACES The Ponte Vecchio (Old Bridge) is the first segmental arch bridge built in the West, and thus it is an outstanding engineering achievement of Europe's Middle Ages. The original bridge was built using wood and stone by the Romans and the bridge as it is today was designed and built by Taddeo Gaddi in 1345.Today, the Ponte Vecchio is known for its teeming shops, including many jewelers, art sellers and antique boutiques.
DINING Just outside the historical Florence city center, Perseus is attended and much appreciated by both Florentians and foreign tourists. Furnished in a typical Tuscan style, Perseus has always been the go-to place for Bistecca alla Fiorentina, aka Steak Florentine.
HISTORICAL & CULTURAL PLACES The Piazza dei Miracoli, formally known as Piazza del Duomo, is a walled 8.87-hectare area, recognized as an important centre of European medieval art and one of the finest architectural complexes in the world. Considered sacred by the Catholic Church, its owner, the square is dominated by four great religious edifices: the Pisa Cathedral, the Pisa Baptistry, the Campanile, and the Camposanto Monumentale.
HISTORICAL & CULTURAL PLACES The Torre del Mangia is a tower in Siena, built in 1338-1348. It is located in the Piazza del Campo, Siena's premier square, adjacent to the Palazzo Pubblico (Town Hall). When built it was one of the tallest secular towers in medieval Italy.
