I guess we should thank the dating app Tinder! We both swiped right, and it was a match. We met up pretty much straight away, and we both instantly felt a connection – you could say it was ‘love at first swipe’.
Nick had always said he would never propose in what he calls a ‘cliché’ place, so when we travelled to the Maldives, I had no idea he would even think to propose. However, on the first night of our holiday we decided to take a romantic stroll to the island’s jetty that led all the way out into the ocean. The jetty was lit up beautifully and we were admiring all the tropical fish swimming around the edge. Suddenly the wind began to pick up and we knew a tropical storm was brewing, as we could see lightning flashes in the sky in the distance. Then, it happened – Nick who had been stood behind me, tapped me to turnaround. As I did nervously (as I was beginning to get suspicious) he was on one knee holding out a ring. There were tears of joy and it was all a bit of blur. We headed back to the bar, and I shrieked at the bar woman ‘we’re engaged’!
