All festivities will take place at Canterbury Park in Shakopee, a casino and racing track. If using GPS to get there, please make sure to select "Canterbury Park" which is the main casino entrance (it is not the 'Expo Building'). 4 : 0 0 C E R E M O N Y Our ceremony will take place outdoors in the Horse Paddock, inside the white fenced area to the left of the building entrance. 4 : 3 0 S O C I A L H O U R After the ceremony, head inside the main casino entrance and up the escalator for hors d'oeuvres and beverages before dinner. 5 : 3 0 D I N N E R A N D R E C E P T I O N The rest of the evening's festivities will take place in the Mezzanine, which is just past the Social Hour area.
The venue has a huge FREE parking lot. There is only one area that costs money to park, but it is past the parking liftgate, closest to the building. If you need to leave your car overnight, that's fine. If you plan to drink that evening, please plan for a sober ride home, or consider getting a room in the hotel block at Holiday Inn up the road.
Weather permitting, the brief ceremony will be outdoors, then all festivities will move indoors for the remainder of the evening- just inside and up the escalator to the Mezzanine.
This will be a formal event, black tie optional. Please avoid jeans, shorts, or sneakers. Most importantly, please wear something you can dance in!
The ceremony will take place in the Paddock, which may mean some dirt or grass. However, it will be a short, seated ceremony and the rest of the evening will be indoors.
Short answer: No - Cell phones ruin wedding pictures. There are several professional photographers to capture the moments from every angle. It is important that people keep their phones out of sight during the ceremony, in order to stay present in the moment with us, and improve the outcome of the professional photographs.
This will be an adults-only event (with the exception of some kids in the family). We encourage you to seize the opportunity to have a night out. If your invite included a "Guest," please RSVP for your plus-one so they accounted for!
We have done our best to select a menu that caters to most dietary restrictions. However, if you have a specific allergy you are concerned about, or any specific restrictions, please let us know as soon as possible!
During the cocktail hour, we will offer two specialty beverage options on us, but it is a fully stocked bar if you are looking for something specific. After cocktail hour, it will be a cash bar. Please have a ton of fun, but plan for a sober ride home or taking the shuttle to the hotel.
No. Outside alcohol is STRICTLY prohibited at the venue, but they have a full bar so do not worry about finding your favorite beverage! **Please refrain from bringing in any of your own booze, since this breaks the rules of the contract with them.**
The wedding festivities are upstairs, away from the casino area. There will be several fun activities available if you aren't up for dancing, but leaving to gamble downstairs means leaving the party. As the evening comes to a close, feel free to go find a table and win big! But please hold off until you are ready to leave the wedding.
There is a block of hotel rooms at Holiday Inn just one mile down the road. There will be a shuttle making several trips to Holiday Inn as the evening winds down. Rooms under the hotel block must be reserved by September 8th. If the block of rooms fills up, there are several other hotel options within a mile of the venue. See the Hotel & Travel tab for more hotel info.
