Bentley and Fadi's first date was in June 2021 at a baseball game in Winston-Salem. Fadi was in medical school at Wake Forest, and Bentley was working at a nonprofit in North Carolina. What was meant to be a simple first date quickly turned unforgettable when Fadi caught a game ball. As about twenty of his medical school friends, whom Bentley was meeting for the very first time, enthusiastically urged him to give the ball to her, it felt a little like fate stepped in early. From that day on, they were inseparable, or at least as inseparable as a busy medical school schedule would allow. Early on, Fadi impressed Bentley not only with his kindness and steady presence, but also with his famous Syrian “Arak” magic trick, if you know you know. Through dating Bentley, Fadi added yet another language to the ones he already speaks: Southern. They fell in love hiking through the North Carolina mountains with their beloved dog, Lucy. Bentley knew she had found the right person when Fadi happily joined her on adventures to her favorite Latin countries, taking on Guatemala, Colombia and Mexico side by side. In 2023, Fadi graduated and matched into a surgery residency in Dallas, Texas. Bentley remained in North Carolina for another year, and they mastered the art of long distance with countless flights and weekend reunions. A year later, Bentley was offered a role in Dallas, an easy yes. Long distance was no match for them.
