Our Love Story

We met as high school sweethearts. You know the story: lockers side by side, notes passed during class, and holding hands under the bleachers at Friday night football games. Just kidding. The real story is that we met on Catholic Match, a good old-fashioned Catholic dating app. It wasn’t love at first swipe, but it was something better. It was a real, honest connection built on shared values, curiosity, and a little bit of digital courage. We still laugh about those first few messages. From the start, conversation just flowed. It wasn’t awkward or forced. It felt easy, natural, and surprisingly real for two people who had never met in person. We talked about our families, our dreams for life, and our shared love of music and live concerts. Somewhere in the middle of it all, we found ourselves deep in a surprisingly passionate debate about queso—white versus yellow. To this day, we still haven’t agreed on which one is superior, but we’ve at least agreed that chips and queso will always be part of our story. Eventually, messages turned into phone calls. Phone calls turned into FaceTime marathons. Then came weekend meetups. Soon we were hopping between Dallas, Austin, Tulsa, San Antonio, and a few random spots in between. We put miles on our cars, booked countless flights, and spent more evenings than we can count walking the Riverside Trails in Tulsa. Somewhere along the way, Kylie, a proud Texas girl, stopped being an Oklahoma skeptic. Benny didn’t just change her mind about the state. He gave her a reason to move there. Tulsa became home, and what once felt like a rivalry turned into a new beginning. There were no high school dances or bleachers in our story. But there was music, laughter, long talks about the future, and the quiet kind of understanding that comes when you know you’ve found someone who just fits. It may not have been the love story we imagined, but it became the one we thank God for every single day.
