A must when visiting Rhode Island! Take a ferry and do a day trip here...it's worth it! Great beaches, fishing, outdoor adventures, and Mohegan bluffs. Everyone loves Block Island, and it's no surprise why. We took a day trip here last summer and had the best time together. Romantic and fun! We loved the bluffs and beaches! Rent a bike to get around the island-- you'll love the views. :)
The famous Cliff Walk, coastal mansions and tours, sailing, history, fishing, shopping, etc. Newport is filled with activities. Enjoy a boat ride around the coast or dinner with a view at the Lighthouse Inn. Olive loves the cliff walk that follows along the coast. Drive to Newport for a day of adventure and fun! We love to fish here too. Striper season is coming!
45 minutes away from where we live in Providence, Boston needs no introduction. You can even take the train there (commuter rail) and avoid the drive. It's a gorgeous city filled with history, incredible food, beautiful strolls through the streets, and fun along the Charles river (like kayaking). Want specific recommendations on food and activities? Let us know and we'd be happy to share if you want to have a day of adventure in Boston!
Benjamin and I live in Providence and we love this city! Drive around the east side (not East Providence, but the east side of Providence). Enjoy delicious desserts at Madrid in charming Wayland Square. Have dinner downtown at Capriccios or Gracie's, or CAV in the jewelry district. Stroll along the water ways that go through the city or take a romantic gondola ride (one of our favorite dates together). We have some of the best food in the country here in little Rhody. There's also tons of amazing history to enjoy and Brown university is a gorgeous campus to behold. Have a picnic at India Point park and explore the artsy shops on Wickenden St.There's the zoo and Roger Williams park! There's our little Italy-- Federal Hill (where restaurant Constantino's plays live music outdoors all season long). We love PVD!
If you want the BEST bread...and we do mean the BEST...order ahead of time for Mapleville farm--it's a bit of a drive (half hour from PVD), but the Ryan family is a treasure. They bake pure love. Benjamin and I are part of their breadbox subscription, and we go there every Saturday. While a bit of a drive, it's beautiful through the wooded scenery and farms of western Rhode Island.
