It only makes sense that these two would find love in a common love of theirs - volleyball. Ben and Jocelyn were in Houston, Texas for the 2011 National Volleyball Championships. On the first day of the tournament, the two (and a few of their teammates) bumped into each other while en route to the convention center. After noticing the university names on their gear, they realized that they knew a number of the same people through the volleyball scene back in the Pennsylvania/Delaware area. The two continued on their way that day, but they continued to "bump" into each other at various events throughout the remainder of the trip. Ben took a chance and reached out to Jocelyn once they were back at their schools and the two began spending time together, and the rest is history... To this day, Ben still says that Jocelyn was the best birthday present ever, as the two met for the first time on his birthday!

The Monday before the proposal, Ben suggested that the two of them (and the pups) play hooky one day that week to take a mini road trip out to Aspen to catch the changing aspens trees. For those of you who are not familiar with Colorado, these beauties have a short timeline for when they are at their peak golden hues, and the areas that are known for them tend to get packed on weekends, so they decided to go on Thursday to try and beat the crowds. After waking up at 5AM to catch the sunrise over the Maroon Bells (which was pure magic, by the way), they began hiking on a trail towards Crater Lake. The views along the trail were breathtaking, to say the least. Golden leaves surrounded every direction of the trail. Jocelyn must have stopped to take a million photographs. Once they made it to the lake, Ben insisted they continue walking to the other side, where there were no other hikers around. Jocelyn nonchalantly trekked along, endlessly snapping photos. After about a minute of Ben crouching down on one knee, he had to ask an oblivious Jocelyn to turn around. She obviously said “Yes!” and the two celebrated in downtown Aspen Village. We are so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you. See you in Breckenridge!
