Rewinding back to late March 2021, Atlanta was shut down. Workers were sent home for what we thought was a “brief” remote work period. Curfews were in effect. Cabin fever was setting in… Rooftop meet-ups were born. Rooftop meetups up was a suggestion of a mutual neighbor, the idea of hosting socially distanced rooftop gathering to get to know each other, safely during the pandemic. Anita, who had recently relocated to Atlanta and was feeling isolated, eagerly embraced the concept as an opportunity to forge new connections. Meanwhile, Ben, who had temporarily moved to the complex to reduce his commuting time during the construction of his new home, had nothing else to do on a school night and came to "peep the scene" for a few minutes. To their surprise, they stayed up until the wee hours of the morning, talking and vibing as a group. This continued for several weeks, talking about everything from music to politics. Anita knew there was something different about this guy, so she had to do something she had never done before. She slipped into his DMs, suggesting he take her out on a date. (She wouldn't dare ask him out on a date; she is too old-fashioned for that.) It took several weeks before they had their first date( With Anita’s busy schedule at the time, it was hard to pin her down). But when they did, It was filled with laughter and thought-provoking conversation. Their love story was sealed with the kiss that night, and as they say, the rest is history. (after the immediate panic that they swapped a life-threatening disease and a week of quarantine). Dating during a pandemic presented unique challenges, but it also offered an incomparable opportunity to learn about each other on a deep, intimate, and authentic level. Their early dates consisted of game nights, where they discovered how competitive the other was—karaoke nights, mainly consisted of Anita singing to Ben and cooking at home, where they grew as a team. These are staples of their love story. Together, they’ve discovered that the best adventures are the ones they create by just being in each other's presence. Building a solid relationship doesn't take 5-star restaurants or lavish gifts. But instead being present, enjoying each other's company, and growing in the simple moments. Join us next summer as we say "I do" and kick off the next phase of our life together. We're SO excited to share this day with those who've been a part of our journey!
