Now don't get me wrong, we love Chick-fil-a just as much, or possibly even more, than your average meat-eater, but I think Birdcall still takes the W when it comes to the chicken sandwich. A local fast-casual concept, Birdcall has a focused menu of incredible chicken sandwiches, fries or tots, and some to-die-for milkshakes. And there is a location right in Union Station!? Game changer. Bride's Favorite: Original with Fries and a Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Milkshake Groom's Favorite: Rancher with Fries and Cucumber Soda
Staying in or near Union Station? Pigtrain is the spot for your morning (or afternoon) cup of coffee, tea, or sweet treat. Right in Denver's Union Station, this place has a lot to offer and a nice outdoor area to enjoy your drink and take in the bustle of downtown. Bride's Favorite: Iced Chai Latte Groom's Favorite: Lemon Bar
Work & Class is possibly our most-visited restaurant in Denver. Their American/Latin fusion family-style menu allows you to share all sorts of different appetizers, meats, and sides. If you've come to visit us in Denver before, odds are we've taken you here. Bride's Favorite: Coriander Roasted Colorado Lamb Groom's Favorite: Goat Cheese Mac & Cheese
Barcelona has apparently become the spot our friends celebrate engagements, but we're not complaining. This wine bar has amazing tapas, so order a cocktail or glass of wine and a ton of different plates to try. You won't regret it. Bride's Favorite: Jamon & Manchego Croquetas Groom's Favorite: Pork Belly a la Plancha
When we were in Japan, we fell in love with Japanese mochi donuts. They're chewy and not overly-sweet, but come in great unique flavors. Luckily for us, whenever we get that craving (it's not infrequent), we have Dochi! They switch up their flavors often, so we'd recommend trying at least two (: Bride's Favorite: Yuzu Poppy Groom's Favorite: Churro
A great spot for brunch, lunch, or dinner, Postino has an awesome atmosphere either inside or on their patio. Their menu has a lot of modern Italian fare with a bit of a twist, but don't forget a glass of wine! Bride's Favorite: Prosciutto & Brie Panini Groom's Favorite: Bruschetta Board
It's hard to beat Avanti's awesome outdoor dining with a great view of downtown Denver, but their food manages to compete. This dining collective hosts several restaurant concepts inside, so if you're craving a burger but someone else is in the mood for dumplings... Avanti's got you covered. Bride's Favorite: Gyro from Bistro Georgette Groom's Favorite: Margherita Pizza from Gorlami Pizza
With locations in both RiNo and LoHi, Cart-Driver is a casual place that serves wood-fired pizzas, oysters, and wine. It's truly some pretty phenomenal Napoleon style pizza that feels like a little slice of our favorite spot in Florence here in Denver, or at least as close as it can get! Bride's Favorite: Tiramisu Groom's Favorite: Daisy Pizza
This spot that is just a couple blocks from Union Station is definitely on the pricier side of things, but trust us, it's worth it. As lovers (or snobs maybe in Kailey's case) of Italian food, Jovanina's is still home to one of the best pasta dishes we've ever had. Bride's Favorite: Elk Bolognese Groom's Favorite: Elk Bolognese (Yes, it's that good)
Little Man Ice Cream is a Denver favorite. From this giant milk pail, you'll get served an ice cream cone or sandwich that is just outside the box. Bride's Favorite: Space Junkie Groom's Favorite: Salted Oreo Peanut's Favorite: Vanilla Pup Cone
McGregor Square is down the street from Union Station right before the ballpark. The square hosts several a la carte, vendor, and sit down drinking and dining options, all with sports at their core. You can even sit out on the tiered lawn to watch a game on the mega screen! Bride's Favorite: Tom's Watch Bar - S'mores Skillet Groom's Favorite: Beer from a Vendor Cart While Football is On
This beerhall has great German bar food and beer, of course, but it's also just a great time! With giant cornhole using bean bag chairs as sand bags and beer pong that uses volleyballs and trashcans, you can enjoy a beer and a little friendly competition. Bride's Favorite: Helles Lager, Bavarian Pretzel Groom's Favorite: Slow Pour Pils, Sausage Plate
Introduced to us by the Stadelman boys, this whiskey bar truly feels like everything a whiskey bar should be - dark, moody, eclectic, and cool. There's an outdoor patio and the indoor lounge, so you can't go wrong as long as you like whiskey. Bride's Favorite: Wine? Groom's Favorite: Wild Turkey
If you're looking to get a bit out of Denver and into some nature, the famous Red Rocks Amphitheatre is a great place to start. Check out the park, go on a hike on one of the many trails in the area, take some cute pics for the gram (we took all of our engagement photos here), or even run the stairs if you're feeling extra ambitious.
Guess what! The Rockies are playing at home all weekend against the Diamondbacks (July 1st @ 6:10pm, July 2nd @ 7:10pm (if you're looking for something after our reception), and July 3rd @ 1:10pm)! Head to Coors Field or McGregor Square to check out the game and enjoy a crisp, cold Coors Light in true Colorado fashion.
Speaking of Coors, the Coors Brewery is located just a short drive from downtown Denver in Golden, CO. Check out their self-guided brewery tour that allows you to walk through the brewery, sample some beer (and by sample I mean get three full beers), and take home a complementary beer can glass! Just be sure to make a reservation. Don't love Coors Light or Coors Banquet? Well, did you know Coors also makes Blue Moon?
Denver boasts a ton of breweries! Far too many for us to ever list on this website, but Denver Beer Co is a favorite of ours. Enjoy some drinks on the patio and then take a walk through the park or over to REI's flagship store where you can also climb their indoor rock wall.
You can probably guess whose recommendation this is. Formerly the Lowery Air Force base, the museum is now displays air and space craft that span time, history, and use from a B-1 Bomber to one-seater personal planes.
