Ben turned 27 on 2/18/2022 and aged into Maggie’s Hinge preferred age range. We chatted briefly (then took a short break that Maggie has described as Ben “ghosting”) then connected again a couple weeks later to plan our first date.
Ben chose Louie's Wine Dive because it was conveniently located between Maggie and his homes but he failed to check what time Louie's closed on a Monday night and so our first date was less than hour. Short and sweet, as they say. Enough for a second date and many more to come.
We worked with a jeweler in town (2AU) to design a one-of-a-kind ring for Maggie with a diamond from Ben's Grandma Phyllis Weinberg. Maggie then waited patiently for the somewhat-surprise engagement. One of our friends (shoutout Peyton) invited Maggie to get her nails done while Ben and Peyton's husband were busy for the day. While out of the house, Ben’s sister, Annie, put out flowers, photos and notes in the house that told Maggie to meet Ben at the Botanical Gardens. At this point she knew… Maggie's friend Molly chauffeured her for the big moment. Ben proposed in Maggie’s favorite room in the Gardens with Annie there to take photos of the private moment. Then, Ben took Maggie to dinner at Louie’s Wine Dive and surprised her with friends and family in the back room. We met additional friends at a favorite bar downtown afterward and even took the next day off work.
