We first crossed paths in middle school, sharing hallways and classrooms but never actually talking. Laurel may have had the tiniest crush on Ben, but it wasn’t until a few years after we had graduated—at Ben’s family’s annual latke party—that we finally exchanged some awkward first words. That first “conversation” was just the start of something wonderfully weird. After a few twists and turns—and separate journeys to different corners of the world—we reconnected, and this time it stuck. Our relationship began long-distance until Laurel moved to New York for school, and Ben took a leap, joining her in a very cozy 300-square-foot East Village apartment. Those whirlwind New York years were full of highs, lows, and unforgettable memories that strengthened our bond. When the pandemic hit, we made a bold move to the Outer Banks, fulfilling Ben’s longtime wish of living by the ocean. It was there that we began building our little family, welcoming Etta, a five-week-old rescue pup who brought her own brand of joyful chaos. As we settled into our new rhythm—quiet nights on the couch, exploring new and familiar places, growing together, and sharing time with family and friends—we began shaping a life centered on what truly matters to us. In June of 2023, nearly a decade after we first spoke, Ben proposed on the dunes of Lake Michigan, a place that has always felt like home to us. After a brief year in LA and some time in Michigan, we’ve settled back in NYC, setting down roots in Rockaway Beach, where we get to wake up near the ocean every day. Still, Michigan holds a special place in our hearts, making it the perfect place to get married. We’ve joked for years about being “basically married,” but now we’re beyond excited to make it official—celebrating with the people we love, in a place that means so much to us. We can’t wait for what’s ahead and are so thrilled to share this special day with all of you.
