We met when he came home from Baylor for the summer. I had joined our young adults group in March and had gotten to know a lot of people there. I had heard his name and knew of him but had never met him until he showed up at church one Tuesday night. I remember being immediately drawn to him and trying to find any reason to introduce myself and talk to him. We struck up a conversation afterwards in the parking lot of an Andy's custard shop and the rest is history!
Our first date was so sweet! We had been talking for about a week while he was out of town helping his grandpa. We talked about everything from music to board games to my terrible sweet tooth. When he got home, we planned a date where we would drive around and he would show me music that he thought I should know. He showed up to my house to pick me up and we drove around listening to music and talking. I thought that was all we were going to do but he had a surprise planned! He took me to Sprinkles to get cupcakes and then to Flippen park to sit under a tree and talk about when we were kids. After that, we loaded back up into his beat up mustang and he took me to a coffee shop to play board games together. I knew he was special before the night was even over because of how thoughtful and intentional he was
During quarantine, he and I had been going on picnic dates since all of the restaurants were closed. One day he asked me if I wanted to go on another one and i said yes, not thinking anything of it. He then said, "and you can dress nice if you want to," and that was when I knew he was going to propose. We set a date and he came to pick me up. He looked so handsome in his white button down and black vest. We drove out to Flippen park in Dallas where we had our first date. We walked over to the fountain and he got down on one knee and asked me to spend forever with him! I forgot to say yes because I was so excited! After I finally said yes, our close friends and family stood up from behind the bushes and were there to celebrate with us!
