Check out www.sonomacounty.com for great ideas of local things to do. Hike in the ancient Redwood trees at Armstrong Woods. Head to up Healdsburg for a few hours for excellent restaurants and boutique shops. Check out some wine tasting! California produces almost 90% of the wine produced in the US, and Sonoma County has more than 425 wineries so pick a few to try out. Sonoma county is also known for excellent, farm to table, organic, local, seasonal food in a laid-back style. Kayak or paddleboard down the Russian River. Head to the coast for amazing seafood and beautiful beaches. The drive along the 1 is breathtaking and windy....and not for the faint of heart.
Or....Drive down the 101 out of Sonoma County to San Francisco for a day!
