In the winter of 2015, during a Wind Symphony rehearsal in Weigel Auditorium at The Ohio State University, a flutist waiting for rehearsal and sitting in the scarlet seats caught the eye of a percussionist in the back … (it’s a good thing he didn’t miss his next entrance). Fast forward three months later, Sabrina and Ben start dating on May 5th - one day before Ben’s 21st birthday, no less! The two were virtually inseparable during the month of May and for the remainder of their time at Ohio State. Then, Sabrina moves to South Carolina to begin a Masters of Music program. The two spent one year apart but drove 8 hours at least once a month to see the other person. While this time apart was extremely difficult, it ultimately strengthened their bond and reaffirmed that they were meant to be together. Naturally, Ben followed her to South Carolina one year later, where they had formative experiences - both together and separate - like performing their own concerti with the University of South Carolina Symphony Orchestra - and waiting off stage or in the audience to cheer on and support the other. And then, they had arguably their most important, life-altering event - adopting their dog, Lila (but if she was found in a forest, who really adopted who?) After graduate school, the couple decided to head closer to home - Whitefish Bay, WI and Lombard, IL - and move to Milwaukee. Spending time closer to the family has been incredibly rewarding, but the couple still feels incredible gratitude to all the people that have shaped them - and their relationship - during its many chapters. Each of these stages in our journey has shaped our relationship, and we are so excited to share the culmination of our love story with you all at our wedding!
