When people think Spokane, they think Riverfront Park. Home to Expo '74, the park has been beautifully renovated to honor its history and provide modern attractions. Here you will experience the Spokane River; calm in places, gently rippling in others and then thundering over the Spokane Falls. Take in a view of the Spokane skyline from the Pavilion's sky bridge, take a ride on the hand-carved Looff Carrousel and Numerica Skyride, then take a spin on Skate Ribbon. Riverfront Park is adjacent to the Spokane Convention Center and a short walking distance from River Park Square and dozens of restaurants, wineries, breweries, shops, and hotels.
Spokane Falls park can be enjoyed on foot or by air. It’s easy to find great viewing points for the waterfalls, and they make for a great stroll in Riverfront Park and around the city. Seeing the Falls near downtown Spokane is one of the best things to do in the city and should not be missed by any visitor to the area. Picture above is the Skyride Gondola If you want to skip all the walking and would rather sit in comfort, the SkyRide gondola offers a 20-minute fly-over for a bird’s eye view. Considered one of the best cable car rides in the world, you’ll gradually descend 200 feet for some great vantage points. In 2022 Ben and I did the classic Zipline Tour. We loved it! The tour is approximately 3 hours long. It begins with a short and informative 15-minute shuttle ride from our comfortable reception area at the Liberty Lake Portal to our property halfway up Mica Peak, south of Liberty Lake. From here, guests will take an exciting ride in specially outfitted UTV’s on panoramic trails to the top of the property. Our friendly guides will then outfit guests with the appropriate gear, and after a short orientation and 2 practice zips, begin the tour. Our signature course, designed by renowned course designer Erik Marter of Synergo, threads through deep forest glens, across our private valley, over a beautiful mountain stream, and near historic moonshine camps where “Mica Moon” moonshine was produced during the days of prohibition. Most of this scenery will be seen from a unique birds-eye perspective high in the treetops. Two short trail hikes and the opportunity to get a glimpse of wildlife.
It’s no secret that the craft beer scene is hopping in Spokane, with some of the best beer in the Inland Northwest! Many Spokane, WA breweries source local ingredients to create their concoctions and share their love of craft beer with both locals and visitors alike. Be sure to stop by favorites like No-Li Brewhouse, Bellwether Brewing Co, Badass Backyard Brewing, and much more! If beer isn't your thing, cider is a sweet alternative. Cider has become a staple in this town and to support local farmers and businesses. Harvesting some of the finest apples and pears in the area, Liberty Ciderworks offers artisan, locally crafted ciders in the heart of Downtown Spokane. Also, in the downtown area, One Tree Cider House takes pride in using 100% Washington apples in all of their house-made cider blends and their food is stellar.
Bowl & Pitcher is a beautiful hike across a swinging bridge over the Spokane river, and then along the river and through the pine trees. The basaltic rock formations are fantastic, especially the rapids around Devil's Toenail. There are multiple spots where it is easy and safe to take a user trail down to the water's edge and dip your feet into the slower current near the edge. This is a beautiful state park, you'll need your Discovery Pass for.
Just south of downtown Spokane is Manito Park, which is considered the Crown Jewel of Spokane City Parks. Here you’ll find 78 acres that include five major garden areas, including a perennial garden, rose garden, lilac garden, Japanese garden, and a classic European Renaissance style garden. Plus a pond, conservatory, playground, and cafe!
