Our Story

Lindsay and Joe's story began at Holy Cross on the way to an elite social event entitled: The Catalina Wine Mixer. Joe unsuspectingly began his sojourn to the event when behind him he heard a delightful and lovely voice say: "Fix your shirt dude, you have a tail". Lindsay, who he had just met earlier that day has been helping Joe improve his dearth of fashion sense ever since, had noticed Joe's shirt was sneaking through his vest. Joe was exceedingly grateful to this beautiful and wise stranger for saving him from such a social faux pas, and was hoping he would get to see her again. As fate would have it, or perhaps the Holy Cross registrar, they found themselves enrolled in Psychology Research Methods the following semester. Struck once again by her beauty, intelligence and all around joie de vivre, Joe sat down next to Lindsay. Before they knew it the two had begun working on a Semester long research project together determining the influence that body language had on perceived intelligence and power. Contrary to what Jesse McCartney taught us, their body language research yielded null findings, but the project was not for nothing. No, indeed, it achieved something much greater than an overrated p < .05. Through endless hours chatting, laughing, and making fun of their professor for his absurdly electric blue shoelaces a connection stronger than a correlation coefficient of 1 was forged. They spent the rest of their Holy Cross time studying together, doing singalongs/mixing spotify playlists, and ordering chicken parmesan from the finest establishment in Worcester (i.e., Sofia's). After removing their caps and gowns, the two took on business casual in the North End of Boston, eventually moving in together. Countless hours spent together finding the best espresso martini's, pizza/pasta, and activities on a budget in Boston only served to deepen the love and romantic connection that the two had for one another. After several lovely years together in Boston, Joe was accepted to graduate school in Lawrence, Kansas. Lindsay encouraged Joe to chase his doctoral dreams (alliteration intended). 2 years of a long distance relationship ensued in which the couple took advantage of the wonderful world's newest technological advancements to do remote wine tastings, dinners, and movie nights. Until, oh sweet serendipity, Lindsay was able to secure a position that would allow her to work full time remote (*cue Joe jumping for joy*), and move out to Kansas with Joe. Since then they have had a wonderful time exploring Lawrence/Kansas City and the wonderful activities and events they have to offer including wine tasting, tennis, pickleball, finding new restaurants, trying queso, and just laughing and watching movies on the couch. They have done just about everything you can imagine except finding Dorothy and Toto. This past summer they decided to cement the years of passion, love, and support they have shown one another via engagement, and dedicate themselves to creating more beautiful memories together for all of eternity. See below for the very abridged version of their engagement story (if you want more detail ask Joe, just maybe make sure you have a good excuse to leave or you'll be there the entire reception).

The Engagement

Thinking she was just going out for some cocktails with friends, Lindsay embarked upon a surprise adventure planned by Joe. The theme of the adventure was "Part of your World" named from Lindsay's favorite Disney movie, The Little Mermaid. Starting from her parent's home, Lindsay received a wooden chest and a golf ball with a clue on it to another location. Accompanied by her Maid of Honor, Meghan, she traversed Chatham in search of 9 clues/locations searching for Joe on this elaborate journey. At each spot in addition to the clue, there was a letter describing what the location in Chatham had meant to Lindsay, Joe, and their relationship. Lindsay searched and searched and finally found Joe at the last location: Chatham Lighthouse.

The Wedding Day

Lindsay and Joe are getting married at Eastward Ho! Country Club in Chatham, Massachusetts on October 5, 2024. Eastward Ho! has always been Lindsay's favorite place, and is quickly becoming one of Joe's (especially now that he owns golf clubs) - they hope you will find it pretty special as well! They're planning their wedding to be a party with people close to them fully equipped with dancing and music. So get stretching, because important to both of them was having a live band that they hope will get all of their family and friends on the dance floor for the majority of the night! The attire is cocktail. Those wearing dresses, feel free to wear what you are comfortable in - short or long! For shoes, keep in mind that the ceremony will be on grass so some styles may be tough to walk in. Those wearing suits, please bring a jacket - a jacket is required for dinner but can, of course, be removed for dancing! More details to come on timeline, transportation, and meals!
