Things To Do

Smithsonian National Zoological Park

3001 Connecticut Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20008

The zoo is free! To get there, we’d recommend getting off at the Cleveland Park Metro stop (Kaitlin’s old neighborhood), for a downhill walk to the zoo and lots of great food options.

Smithsonian National Museum of American History

1300 Constitution Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20560

Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center

14390 Air and Space Museum Parkway, Chantilly, VA 20151

Probably Sam’s favorite Smithsonian museum and worth the drive out there. There’s also an Air and Space museum in DC on the Mall for a more accessible option.

Theodore Roosevelt Island

Washington, DC

A short walk from the Rosslyn Metro stop

United States Botanic Garden

100 Maryland Avenue Southwest, Washington, DC 20001

Close to the Mall and Capitol Building. Our favorite part is the orchid room.

George Washington's Mount Vernon

3200 Mount Vernon Memorial Highway, Mount Vernon, VA 22121

This is where we got engaged! It has great views of the Potomac River and is close to our venue.

Ben's Chili Bowl

1208 U Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20009

A DC institution. Sam is a fan of the half-smoke, Kaitlin is a fan of the chili cheese fries, and we both love the banana pudding.

Cucina MORINI

901 4th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20001

One of our new favorite Italian restaurants in DC, and we would highly recommend it for brunch where they serve both pasta and cornetto pastries.
