There are two airports for you to choose from! Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO) is the closest airport to South lake - located about 45-60 minutes away from and offers flights from most major cities. Sacramento International Airport (SMF) offers more flight options but is a further drive, taking about 2 hours to get to South Lake Tahoe.
The venue is 25-30 minutes away from South Lake Tahoe. The wedding is at Desolation hotel HOPE VALLEY, not the Desolation Hotel in South Lake Tahoe.
Due to limited seating at the Venue, we are unfortunately not able to accommodate plus ones not on the invite at this time.
While we love your kids, we have chosen to make our special day adults only. We hope that you will understand our decision and take the opportunity to let your hair down and celebrate in style!
We have a room block of 27 cabins on Desolation hotel hope valley main property that we encourage you to reserve for the celebration. If those are booked, there are luxury yurts on the other side of the property as well. you can call Desolation hotel hope valley to reserve your stay. We have two recommended hotels listed under "Travel" if the cabins and yurts are all booked up.
To book your stay on the property, you will call the front desk (530) 694-2203 and reserve your cabin or yurt - you will not be able to book online.

You will park at Desolation Hotel in Hope Valley. If you are coming up from South Lake Tahoe, we recommend carpooling if possible. We will have shuttles taking guests from the hotel to the ceremony site at the campground and back for the reception. If you are staying in cabin or yurt on the Campground, you will be able to walk to the ceremony site.
If you're staying at the Campground, this will not apply to you as the ceremony is on the campgrounds. We will have shuttles with Tahoe Xpress transporting guests from the hotel for the ceremony - these are small shuttles so there will be multiple trips.
Tahoe Xpress shuttles will be picking up guests at Desolation Hotel Hope Valley STARTING at 2:45pm and will be doing a drop off every 10-15 minutes until 3:50. We only have one small 12 person shuttle so we will be coming out with a scheduled time for each cabin to catch the shuttle down to the ceremony site to prevent everyone trying to catch the last shuttle down. Our ceremony will be starting at 4pm and will be very short and we don't want you to miss it! After the ceremony, the shuttle will transport guests back to the main property starting at 4:30 for the reception. If you are staying on the campgrounds, you are welcome to drive up to the Hotel on your own to ensure a ride back at the end of the night - there will not be shuttles at the end of the night to take guests back down to the campground.
It is a .65 mile walk via trail from the hotel or .5 mile drive down the highway. The trailhead is located at the top of the stone stairs in Aspen Grove - the trail has a bit of scrambling over rocks and boulders along the way. It is NOT recommended to walk the trail at night, there are lots of bears and other wildlife in the area.
Most if not all of the Cabins come with small kitchens. **Please do not keep food in your car and make sure to air it out if you have eaten in it because BEARS. The property is located in the national forest.** There are two restaurants on the property! Sorensen's Cafe is located on the cabin side of the property that offers full service dining as well as to-go room service delivery. Hope Valley Bar & Grill is located at the entrance of the campground and is a casual dining experience. **If you're staying in a yurt on the campground, there are bear boxes for you to keep your food in. Desolation Hotel asks that you do not eat or cook inside of your yurt for safety.**
