I always joke and say that our first date was in a junk yard. PS, you can ask about that one later. The truth is, we really just don’t know! Our relationship has always been one that was not defined by labels or time stamps—not entirely. We set our “anniversary” as sometime in early June. The short bit is that I was 16 and he was 18. We met at youth group in early spring of 2018. Shortly after, I (Kiersten) was invited to Josh’s graduation and graduation party—so things were definitely getting serious. To top it off, I was then invited to yet another family event of the Hoenie’s in June of 2018: Josh’s sister and brother-in-law’s wedding and reception! In the same year, two of my cousins were getting married as well, and Josh was invited to be my plus one to those events. Josh and I were also drawn to each other because of the fact that we had strong Christian faith backgrounds, as well as backgrounds in family farming, FFA, 4H, tractors, antique car shows, and riding four-wheelers. We are also both more stubborn than we would like to admit, but we also have the ability to lighten each other’s days when things just aren’t going how we want them to. After a few years (more like 4 to be exact), Josh finally proposed in a paddle boat on Lake Isabella in Hamilton County, Ohio on July 16th, 2022. We have made a forever lasting impression on each other’s hearts and received good words and blessings from our families with the continuation of our relationship. From dancing in the kitchen or through the aisles in Menards, to eating tomato soup with crackers and grilled cheese, we have found and established the kind of love that just doesn’t seem to be found everyday. We have had bumps and tangos—who doesn’t?—but something must’ve worked along the way because we are here and super excited to be celebrating our future with everyone!
