Take a Ferry to St. John

Take a Ferry to St. John

Whether snorkeling the crystal-clear, turquoise waters that surround our island or climbing the steep hills, for those passionate about experiencing nature, St. John is the must-see island. One of the best places to snorkel in the Caribbean, you don’t have to venture far from shore to begin interacting with sea turtles and rays as you swim above corals that teem with a kaleidoscope of brilliantly colored fish. On land, more than three dozen hiking trails beckon adventurers, crisscrossing the lush, 5,500-acre National Park. This preserve protects more than half the island’s total footprint and is home to a veritable smorgasbord of flora and fauna. Beloved for our dozens of virtually crowd-free, white-sand beaches, this—the smallest of the three main U.S. Virgin Islands—is considered to have some of the most unspoiled underwater and terrestrial habitats found anywhere in the Caribbean. Shopping in Charlotte Amalie

Shopping in Charlotte Amalie

Main Street, Charlotte Amalie, St Thomas 00802, U.S. Virgin Islands

Stroll the bustling cobblestone lane in the heart of Charlotte Amalie, which is lined with high-end shops and cozy restaurants that were previously used as pirate warehouses. Find beautiful jewelry pieces, watches, and souvenirs, as well as perfume, liquor, and tobacco. If you’re interested in shopping for jewelry, highlights include Diamonds International, Cardow Jewelers, and Bobby’s Jewelers. Make sure to venture down the quaint side alleyways, too, where more boutiques await with hidden gems. Main Street is one of the top spots for shopping in St. Thomas. Please note: This area is very close to the cruise ship docks. On days when the cruise ships arrive, the area can become a bit congested.

Red Hook

Red Hook

Red Hook, St Thomas 00802, U.S. Virgin Islands

Red Hook is a town located on the east side of St. Thomas in the East End subdistrict. Referred to as Red Hook, the East End features an unofficial "town" of red-tiled roof homes and businesses dotting a rolling coastline that overlooks Pillsbury Sound and the island of St. John. Enjoy a drink or fresh caught lunch while watching yachts drive by or stop by one of the boutiques. At night, this area livens up even more.
