Question

Do I need a passport to enter St. Thomas, USVI?

Answer

Nope! St. Thomas is part of the U.S. Virgin Islands therefore, no passport is required to enter the country or return back to the United States.

Question

What timezone is St. Thomas in?

Answer

St. Thomas is in Atlantic Standard Time. Two hours ahead of Central time zone.

Question

What airport do I fly into?

Answer

The Cyril E. King International Airport (STT). The airport is approximately 20 minutes away from The Westin. Airlines that fly into STT: American Airlines, Delta, Frontier, JetBlue, Spirit, United Airlines

Question

Do I have to go through customs?

Answer

Upon leaving St. Thomas, you will go through customs. You still do not need a passport! They have customs to ensure guests are not leaving with plants, food or other potential disease carrying items. Due to this, we recommend arriving to the airport slightly earlier than typical. The lines do not take a long time, but as November begins travel season to the islands, best practice would be an earlier arrival.

Question

How do I get around the island?

Answer

The Cyril E. King International Airport has multiple car rental companies on site which can be rented online in advance or at the desk upon arrival at the airport. Taxis are also available at the airport and throughout the island. Uber and Lyft are not operational on the island.

Question

I heard they drive on the left side, is this true?

Answer

Yes! In the USVI, all driving is on the left side of the road. Not to fret, there are many sign reminders and the steering wheel is on the normal side.

Question

If I want to rent a car, what does the process look like?

Answer

While renting a car seems very convenient, it can be a bit of a hassle. When you arrive at STT, there are long lines for the rental kiosks as there are limited company options. Additionally, you have to walk your luggage up a rocky hill to reach your vehicle. Our recommendation: stick with taxis. They are fantastic and always available at the airport, resorts, etc.

Question

Tell me more about the taxi services?

Answer

There are three types of taxis on the island: open air, larger vans and locals driving their own cars. All taxis operate on a per person basis and take CASH ONLY. Our typical taxi costs were about $7-$10 a person per trip. The Westin will always secure a safe taxi for your travels. NEVER take the local car taxis - safety should always be the priority, so ensure all cars are marked as Taxi.

Question

What kind of weather can I expect?

Answer

Average temperatures for St.Thomas in November are a high of 86° and a low of 76°.

Question

I cannot make it to the ceremony. Will there be a local celebration?

Answer

YES! If you cannot attend the intimate ceremony in St. Thomas, we completely understand. There will be a celebration to follow in St. Louis, Missouri in Spring of 2025. We hope to see you there!

Question

How do I get to the ceremony and reception at Villa Norbu?

Answer

There will be a shuttle picking guests up at The Westin beginning at 3pm. The venue is 6.3 miles from the Westin (about 20ish minutes). If you are not staying at the Westin, you will either need to make your way there by 3pm OR coordinate transportation to the venue.

Question

If I rent a car, can I drive to the venue for the ceremony?

Answer

Unfortunately, there will not be any parking available at Villa Norbu. There will be transportation provided from the Westin. If you are not staying at the Westin, please make your way to the resort for a shuttle or coordinate travel on your own.

Question

What does the venue look like?

Answer

The venue sits on top of the cliffs, overlooking the gorgeous bay. That being said, please prepare for some stairs and cobblestone! There are handrails throughout the venue in addition to lights for safety.

Question

What is the ceremony dress code?

Answer

Please plan on dressing in cocktail or formal attire for the day of the wedding. Please no jeans, shorts, tank tops, or tennis shoes. Villa Norbu is located on a dramatic, rocky coast, meticulously constructed using sustainable tropical hardwoods, native “blue bit” stone quarried in the USVI, and merchant ballast bricks, plus stairs. Please plan footwear accordingly (or bring sandals!).

Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

Please RSVP by 10/1/24. The Westin room block will be active until all rooms are filled. If the block is full and you are still looking for a room with the block rate, please reach out to the Bride or Groom.

Question

I have a dietary restriction, can I make a special request?

Answer

Yes! If you have any dietary restrictions, please reach out to the Bride or Groom.

Question

Am I allowed to bring my own sunscreen for the charter?

Answer

Yes as long as it is MINERAL sunscreen. There are many coral reefs in the USVI that are protected and sunscreen kills them. We will bring some tubes for you to use, but if you choose to bring your own, please ensure it is MINERAL sunscreen or you will not be able to use it. There is a market at the Westin that carries sunscreen and other items you may need, however the cost will be inflated due to the resort. We recommend purchasing beforehand.
