Okay, this is a MUST do. Such a great value. Book a Kelly Tour of Historic Savannah and learn a ton about the historic, and slightly haunted, destinations in an open-air trolley. With your tour ticket, you also get TWO DAYS of complimentary pick-ups and drop-offs at any of the tour sites. You just call like they're your personal Lyft driver. Such a great way to get around if you are experiencing "Disneyland" feet.
There are so many fun shops and boutiques along River Street! Go explore! We recommend getting beignets at Huey's. Check out the lobby of the River Street Inn - great views from their elevator. Visit the Waving Girl Statue. Check out an INCREDIBLE collection of geodes at the JW Marriott lobby - this hotel was renovated from an old coal-burning power plant! Buy some fresh flowers from Urban Poppy, which also doubles as a cute boho boutique. Take a ride on the Georgia Queen Riverboat. ... you get the point! You gotta go!
There are at least three Candy Kitchen locations in Savannah. Some have ice cream or speciality popcorn, while others have wider candy selections. You can't go wrong at any of them! You do have to order a Praline, a Gopher, and a Turtle to have the full Savannah Candy Kitchen experience. You can also find chocolate dipped pretzels, old timey candy, saltwater taffy, candied and caramaled apples, truffles, and plenty of other goodies!
Be prepared to pack your suitcase full of these cookies! Byrd's Cookies are delicious - free samples at every location in Savannah! Get a vintage Byrd's Cookies tin and fill 'er up! You can also order Byrd's cookies online - so I guess you don't have to stuff your suitcase full like we did.
There are a number of Savannah Bee Company locations throughout Savannah. We love the Broughton Street location because of its free honey-tasting bar! You won't regret it. A portion of sales goes to building educational bee boxes at schools. You'll find plenty of honey, honeycomb, bee-themed gifts, and beeswax products!
Did you know there's a taste of South Africa in Savannah?! Zunzi's is a hidden gem. A combination of South African flavors and American fast-casual dining. You'll definitely want to pack home a bottle of Zunzi's sauce. Don't forget to try their Rooibos Sweet Tea!
If we're being honest... we haven't eaten the donuts here yet. BECAUSE when we went they were sold out! I mean an entirely empty caseline. The other best part about this place...classic arcade games! Plenty of tables to play card or board games. They have some games on site you can play too.
We love walking through Forsyth Park - it's also a stop on the Kelly Trolley Tour. It's also a great place to see Spanish moss. Spanish moss is neither from Spain nor is it moss. It's a flowering air plant that thrives in tropical and subtropical regions. Careful not to touch it or take it home with you; the moss is likely filled with bugs and other critters!
