This one is worth the drive to the other side of town! Such unique burgers and appetizers. Their pizza is also to die for! Of course, no meal here is complete without an order of Phat Fries as an appetizer.
The place that started it all. Sam and Cole went on their first date here. The BBQ is phenomenal! Depending on the time and day, you may be able to get some burnt ends. They also have various jellies and preserves made my a local Jasper woman.
A great place to get home-style cooking. Some of Sam and Cole's favorite plates include fried catfish, the trailblazer, and chicken friend chicken. Of course, if you want to be like them, you have to get the fried pickles!
This is the place Cole asked Sam to be his girlfriend! It's no secret, water is Sam's happy place, and this is a beautiful place to watch the sunset over Lake Sam Rayburn. Sam also convinced Cole to get in the car with a complete stranger on their first date to show him her "happy place." You can set up a hammock between trees or sit on the bench and watch the boaters on the water. Be aware! This overlook is on the dam. If you hear a loud signal noise, it is not the beginning of the purge. It is a warning from the corp to clear the low lying side (opposite side of the road) before they open the dam.
Just a short trip further down Hwy 190, Martin Dies has been a favorite of Sam's family since she was little. Cole's dad has also come to the park for his work. It has several hiking trails and places to pitch a tent or hook up a camper if you're the camping type.
The place Cole asked Sam to marry him! There are two playgrounds on different ends of the park and a splash pad for littles. The gazebo over the pond is a nice place to just sit and catch a breather. If you visit, be sure to look for Sam and Cole's "love locks" on the lock tree (it's to the left of the big heart, right about shoulder height). You may even want to add your own!
