Sam and Cole's story starts the way many do this day and age, with the Bumble dating app! The very first messages they exchanged were about each of their schools being shut down at the moment for COVID (hello teaching in 2021). Soon the conversation moved on to talking about their mutual interests in podcasts and cryptids. Eventually the conversation lead to Cole asking Sam on a date. Apparently, he was in the press box at one of Silsbee's football games and immediately started asking the other guys for suggestions on restaurants. He and Sam decided on BBQ at Smitty's Smokehouse in Jasper, and wouldn't you know it, on a very easy date to remember, September 11, 2021. On October 9, 2021, Cole made it offical at Overlook Park by asking Sam to be his girlfriend. Three short weeks later, they said "I love you." For their first anniversary, the duo went back to their first date place and added a love lock to the tree at Sandy Creek Park to memorialize their love. Numerous dates and several months later, Cole asked Sam to be his wife on April 20, 2024! When you ask Cole, he said he knew how he was going to do it from the moment they put the first lock on the tree. On the Wednesday before he asked the question, he told Sam he thought it would be really nice to go for a walk that Saturday. Well, God had other plans for the weather that day and he had to think quick on his feet. As luck would have it, it was scheduled to be pouring rain that day, so instead they went out to eat at an old favorite, Elijah's Cafe. Then, Cole suggested they go check on their love lock (people had been vandalizing the locks and steeling them). Thankfully, Mother Nature held off on the rain just long enough for them to stop at the park to check on the lock. When Sam pointed it out to him (quicker than he was hoping for), Cole placed another lock on the tree that said, "Samantha Peters, Will you marry me?" It was the easiest decision Sam has ever made. Planning a wedding, being first-time homeowners, and Sam switching school districts has been a ton of work, but the pair agree, there's no one else they'd rather do this life with. They hope you will be able to join them on their special day, but are always more than appreciative for well-wishes and prayers as they take on this next phase of life.
