We met as so many couples do in the era of dating apps, on Tinder. We matched the weekend Colleen moved back to Skokie after finishing school and clinicals, and one week later we went on our first date. We met at Moretti's and bonded over our shared love of gin and tonics, appetizers, and ended up sitting and talking for about 5 hours. The next day, Colleen threw Andrew into the deep end by inviting him to Alex's Obama's birthday/beach party, where he met several of Colleen's closest friends. From then on, we were pretty much inseparable, finding ways to spend as much time as possible together and finding our places in each other's families.
It was a Monday evening, and we were watching Bake Off on the couch and it was just like any other night. Jokingly, Andrew often responds to requests Colleen makes by telling her, "Sure but it'll cost you." Colleen asked Andrew to pass her her water, and this time Andrew said, "Sure, but it might cost you a little bit more this time." Colleen looked up, and Andrew was holding out the ring. He asked her to marry him and the answer was an immediate, "Yes!" Andrew later told Colleen that he had been arranging a photoshoot with Colleen's friend, Hannah, for that weekend and he was going to do it then, but the ring got delivered that day and he just couldn't wait any longer.
