Medellin is known as "eternal spring" so the weather is always warm. In August the average temperature is 72 degrees. In Medellin it can get hot and up to 85 degrees. The wedding venue is in the mountains, and the climate is cooler (even in August). Bring a shawl or light sweater since the temperatures can get down to the low 50s late at night. Keep in mind it is a tropical climate and rain is common.
To get the best exchange rate use an ATM in Colombia to withdraw cash. Do not bring Dollars and convert those, the exchange rate will not be as good.
Yes. If you pay with a credit card, you can get Duty Free on most purchases (not including food or hotel). When departing and prior to checking any bags, you must go to a kiosk at the airport and show receipts as well as purchases to get the tax refunded to your original form of payment. It takes about 3 months from that date.
