Many months later on the evening of March 20, 2021 at a Mexican restaurant along Alki Beach, surrounded by the sound of the water and the comfort of familiarity, Jose asked Alejandra to be his girlfriend again—this time with intention, certainty, and love that had grown deeper with time. Upon Jose’s graduation and a change of scenery for Alejandra they moved to Spokane, starting their lives in a tiny studio apartment with two cats. It wasn’t much space, but it was theirs. For 3 years they called Spokane their home, they moved into a larger space, where their family grew welcoming a pitbull named Luna. Bringing her home added a new kind of joy and responsibility to their lives, making their home feel even fuller and more complete.
