Josh and Anna met through mutual friends in the beginning of the summer of 2010 in Nacogdoches, Texas. There were many trips to Tonkawa Springs, a local cold spring where people could float in the blue water, grill some food, and drink a cold beer. There were late nights spent on friends' porches, laughing and getting to know each other. There were chance encounters on campus where they would stop to talk in between summer classes. Somewhere along the way, and with a little push from friends, they became a couple. At the end of summer, Josh obtained his Bachelor's degree and left Nacogdoches to return to Dripping Springs, Texas. They knew that the summer had been truly special and decided to give long distance a shot. Years later, they each have a pretty great souvenir from that summer- each other.
Feeling nostalgic for Nacogdoches and the summer that brought them together, Anna and Josh packed up one Sunday morning and headed east towards their old stomping grounds. They had planned a day in Nacogdoches to be spent sipping drinks poolside at The Fredonia Hotel, walking around the brick roads of downtown, meandering through campus to see what changed or remained the same, and to take a dip in Tonkawa Springs. After spending the morning at The Fredonia Hotel and walking through downtown, they found themselves on Stephen F. Austin's campus. They admired the new buildings that had popped up over the years, visited the old haunts of former dormitories, and tried to stay in the shade as much as possible because Nacogdoches is a sauna in the summer. Josh stopped in front of the Rusk Building where a moment was shared between the two almost ten summers ago. They reminisced about that moment, and how it was the catalyst of so many future moments shared with friends, family, and each other. Josh got down on one knee and proposed, and Anna said yes. They then went to their favorite bar in town, Flashback, to have a celebratory drink. They slow danced in the corner of the bar while the jukebox played "Neon Moon" by Brooks & Dunn, one of their songs. They were finally engaged.
