The start of our modern-day love story began online. Looking back at the conversation, we should have known it was a match made in heaven from the beginning. Alex told Becca she was pretty and let her tell him about her cat and Becca told Alex how much she loved food. We started talking and never stopped.
We have flagships displayed in our living room that Alex has collected since he was small. A couple of them were given to him by his grandparents and they are the center of our theme in the living room. A month before the engagement we had gone to visit the Elissa, the flagship that stays in Galveston, on a date. While we were there, they had a flyer that said that five more flagships would be arriving in April and staying in Galveston for the weekend. We talked about going to the event as they sailed in and that is where Alex got the idea to propose. Alex had to jump through a few hoops to pull this proposal off. It seemed like everyone was in on it except for Becca. She had a doctor's appointment scheduled for the day they had planned to go see the flagships and told Alex she didn't think there would be time to go. Alex got Becca's mom to call the doctor's office and tell them that they had to reschedule her appointment. Yes- the entire office knew and Becca didn't. Becca did not want to go to see the flagships that evening. She was tired after being at school all day and it was a Thursday night. She knew going to Galveston that night would mean getting home late and having to get up early for school again the next day. Luckily she didn't put up too much of a fight! They met some friends at the flagships that night and went to have dinner. Funny enough - Becca made a joke about needing a ring at dinner that night. After dinner, they walked back to the flagships where Alex asked to have their picture taken. That was when he popped the question! Becca was in such shock she asked for five minutes if it was real and then forgot to say yes! At the end of the day on April 5, 2018 we were finally engaged!
