Maid of Honor
Janie's take: Maid of Honor – Janie Baird noun. epitome of big sister; fiercely loyal sibling; occasional bossy pants synonyms: Jadolf antonyms: Becca Janie and Becca have been butting heads and partnering in crime since 1993. Janie claims to be a better dancer than Becca, but Becca’s F-15E jet flies a lot faster than Janie’s Navy destroyer. My take: Janie and I are almost sheer opposites, which can be tough for sisters growing up together. She has always been a kind and honest soundboard, an inspiration for self-care and health, and an amazing person to look up to for what it means to be determined and hard working. I am so incredibly lucky to have such a person be my big sister. My heart bursts with pride and love when I look at her! Cannot wait to see her standing next to Louis in May.

C: I met Becca in 7th grade playing volleyball. Our friendship has seen countless sports practices, jam sessions, taco bell runs, ill-fated attempts to pioneer beauty trends, inter-collegiate visits (Go Cocks), deep conversations, and laughs. Despite her tiny stature I’ve always looked up to Becca. From her sheer determination to her loyalty, there’s so much to admire! I’m honored to stand next to her and Louis as they take this joyful step into marriage! B: Carrie has been such a blessing in my life. Though we have been physically separated for years, we have never lost touch. I value her sweet love, friendship, and always sound advice in good times and bad. I feel so lucky to have such a centered and true friend in my sometimes turbulent life.

D: Dulcie and Becca have been scheming since 95’ when they met in St. Philips Church Choir as wee ones. Their friendship not only spans decades but continents too - traveling to Italy, France, England together, with a few BE homecoming dances, Clemson Frat Parties, Deb balls and July 4ths on Folly Beach in between. They share a love for laughter and a feisty flare which has kept them near and dear for so many years. B: Oh my Dulcie. We go way, way back and have always been such a sassy pair. I love her for her authenticity, for her sense of humor, and for her bit of rebelliousness that she carries so well. I feel so fortunate to have a friend who has always kept me on my toes and who never fails to welcome me into her home (or her sweet parents home).

O: Olivia and Becca were destined for friendship from the start. Like many children in Charleston, Becca's mom Becky was the one who brought Olivia into the world. As neighbors on Legare St, Olivia's mom Laura biked down to their house to confer with Becky, and Becky was the first to know that Olivia was on the way! Soon after, Becca appeared on the scene and started calling the shots. Dulcie, Becca, and Olivia soon joined forces through the choir, and a lifelong friendship was born. From hours spent crabbing at the flood dock at Live Oak, to scheming on an international level on choir tours, to jumping in the pool in black tie after Olivia's debutante party (where we were all finally introduced to Louis!), Becca's been showing everyone how it's done for years. B: Liv says it all so well!!

M: Sister of the groom and bridesmaid. When Magdalyn met Becca years ago when she was Louis’s BEHS buddy, little did she know she was meeting her brother’s better half. Mags couldn’t be happier to welcome a badass AF new sister to the Duffie family! When she’s not busy designing logos and websites, she’s always trying to tag along on Louis and Becca’s globetrotting adventures. B: Maggie, Louis' big sister, is a mamacita of unparalleled humor, a love for good music and food, and an undeniable talent for art and design. She was such an integral part in mine and Louis' life when she shared her beautiful and growing city, Raleigh, with us during my time based up in NC. I love her so much for her tenacity for living her best life and for her unapologetic loyalty to her family.
Best Man
This guy introduced me to good music and taught me how to play the guitar, which to me are extremely important. My father is also an experienced captain on the water and introduced me to the waterways surrounding The Lowcountry. We have spent endless hours together fishing, shrimping, and exploring the barrier islands. From an early age I can remember him stopping the boat or turning around when he saw trash in the water so we could fish it out. He has worked in the water industry his entire life and he made sure to teach the importance of clean water and conservation. It is almost like it’s in his DNA and he passed that gene to me and my siblings. Be sure to chat him up whenever you get a chance. I am sure he will offer you bourbon and tell you a story with his laconic Southern accent.

Zach is the eldest of the four Duffie children. He and his wife Anna live in Ponte Vedra with their three adorable daughters Emmie, Hadley, and Sullivan Charlotte. Zach and I share a love for the water and everything it offers, whether it's fishing or surfing. He currently works for NYK which is a Japanese shipping company that ships cars and other machines. Zach to me is the stoic older brother that I looked up to. When I was young he had this go-kart that we would race around the field across from our house and I remember him driving so fast and I thought it was so much fun. I am pretty sure he threw me off one time and ran me over but I am sure that was on accident...Zach is an even keeled and mellow guy but don’t let that fool you. He can get down and boogie with the best of them.

Jesse aka Jesco White the Dancing Outlaw is my other older brother. He is closest in age to me, so he is the sibling that I spent the most time with since I am the baby in my family. Jesse has always been the protective older brother that had my back no matter what. One time a friend of mine got into a fight with an older kid and ended up with a broken nose. We went home and Jesse immediately wanted to know who did this. Soon we were back at the basketball courts ready to throw down. Some of my favorite memories are early morning surf sessions with Jesse out at 25th Ave on IOP. He is a very good surfer, but I think I might be just a little bit better :) As his nickname implies, Jesse is a dancing outlaw. He will no doubt be on the dance floor all night long and welcomes a good dance-off.

If you do not already know Wills then I highly recommend chatting him up sometime over the wedding weekend. The man has traveled and experienced enough for 100 lifetimes. Wills recently got out of the Navy where he was a Nuclear Engineer on a submarine with his duties taking him all around the Pacific. He settled in Moscow, Idaho with his fluffy companion Bodhi. Bodhi is a massive Malamute that enjoys accompanying Wills on all his adventures. Wills is wicked smart and enjoys a good debate on anything from sociopolitical norms in the US to why Swedish people paint their houses red. When Wills is not out exploring the world, he enjoys skydiving, mountaineering, and scuba diving. Pretty basic, I know. On a more serious note though, I am honored to have Wills as a groomsman and brother-in-law.

Boo, or Boobers as he is more affectionately known as, is the baby of the Baird Clan so he and I had good repartee from the start. Another whizz kid that recently graduated from you guessed it, CLEMSON UNIVERSITY, and will be heading to medical school soon, Boo is always down for some kind of discussion. Boo takes after his mother with his love for surfing and I have enjoyed many a paddle out with him. He also caught the bug for Clemson football, like his dad and brother, if you would like to talk about the upcoming season or recruiting. One of my favorite things about Boo is his kind nature and sincerity. The aspiring doctor is also pretty funny but hopefully me writing that doesn’t go to his head. I look forward to our future talks, adventures, and getting to grow closer.
