Whether you're on the South Platte trail through downtown to Breckenridge Brewery or sweating it out on Lookout Mountain in Golden. There are no shortages of places to ride and beers to drink.
Want to try your hand at fly fishing? There is no better place to knot a fishing line than Deckers. Cheeseman Canyon is a beautiful hike, since it's impossible to actually catch a fish there. If you want something closer we'd also recommend Waterton Canyon.
Lava flows formed North Table Mountain and its sister mesa, South Table Mountain, about 60 million years ago. Today, North Table Mountain Park visitors enjoy panoramic views, 15-plus miles of trails and breath-taking rock climbing. Trails can be as long or as short as you'd like, ranging from 524 to 1,729 feet in elevation gain.
As the tallest of our Golden, CO, parks, Lookout Mountain stands more than 7,300 feet above Golden, just west of downtown. Known for its beautiful natural splendor and breathtaking views, a hike or drive up to its peak will be worth every moment. Once you reach the top, you’ll find clear views of the Rocky Mountains, the city of Denver in the distance, and the sweeping landscape in between. You can hike, bike, or drive your way to the top. One of Jen's favorites. Along with a few friends, she bikes to the top of Lookout Mountain on Friday mornings when warm and dry enough.
During the busy season (May 24, 2024 through October 20*, 2024) you will need a timed entry permit during peak hours, as well as a park pass to enter Rocky Mountain National Park. You can only get the timed entry permit by purchasing them online in advance. Park passes are required all year long, but they can be purchased at the park entrance. Reservations for May and June will be made available on May 1st at 8am at Recreation.gov.
A quick drive up I-70 will be enough to experience a true Rocky Mountain experience. See buffalo graze as you watch the sunset over the Central Front Range.
If the brewery wasn't enough for you Coors Field is one of the best bars in the city! Often times when we drink here an amateur baseball game breaks out. **note the Rockies are playing the Pirate in Pittsburgh this weekend so, there's that**
