Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Rachel Ahn and Alec Beatty

Things to do

Some of you may be like Rachel the first time she was planning to visit the Midwest: "What is there to do in this flat farmland? Why are there two Kansas Cities? Where am I?" Luckily, Alec is here to answer! If you have free time, consider checking out the spots below...

Kansas City

Kansas City, MO

Yes, this is where the Kansas City Chiefs play... Downtown Kansas City is located 15-20-minutes drive from the wedding venue and 15-minutes from the Kansas City Airport (MCI). It features museums (WWI Museum, Negro League Baseball Museum, American Jazz Museum, Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art), distilleries and breweries, plenty of Kansas City Bbq, Power & Light Entertainment District, the College Basketball Experience and Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame, and plenty of fountains.

Kansas City

Kansas City, KS

Located 20-minutes from Kansas City Airport (MCI) and 15-minutes from Hawthorne House, Kansas City, Kansas is more shopping district than town. For those looking for other hotel options or a place to eat and shop, the Legends Shopping Center is a good place to explore!

Topeka & Lawrence, Kansas

For the truly adventurous, Lawrence, Kansas, is around 40-minutes from Kansas City, and Topeka, Kansas, is around 60-minutes. Lawrence is home to the University of Kansas, which boasts a beautiful campus and one of the most historic basketball venues in the country: Allen Fieldhouse. The Allen Fieldhouse Hall of Fame is open M-F from 10:00 am - 5:00 pm. Lawrence also has a cute dining and shopping downtown called Massachusetts Avenue. For those willing to venture to Topeka, please contact Alec so he can point you in the right direction.
