As Beatriz was working in lab, in walks her professor to introduce a new student. "Meet Anthony, he'll be working on a project with me for the summer. This is Beatriz." "Hi." she said, and immediately went back to her experiment; never really giving him a second thought. The professor's students never last long, why would Anthony be any different? Little did she know... Anthony and Beatriz didn't interact much, save for the occasional bump into each other in the lab. Fast forward to Fall semester 2015. Beatriz was the teaching assistant for her professor's lab course and Anthony was one of the students. He sat right upfront, no could miss him. Things started rocky, as Beatriz would yell at him for having poor technique. But Anthony had a great sense of humor, got along with his classmates, and really excelled. Anthony would often stay after class to ask questions, chat, or help clean up. He would help Beatriz roll the cart full of class materials back to the lab, or visit during her office hours. Occasionally they would grab lunch from the student center together. It was in these little moments that Beatriz and Anthony realized that their friendship was special. Beatriz could not however, officially go out with Anthony no matter how many times he asked. He was still her student after all! So until Anthony completes the class and Beatriz graduates, they could never be more than friends. Anthony was undeterred however and on the day Beatriz successfully defended her thesis in December 2015, he asked her out once more. And Beatriz said yes!
