Maine's largest man-made body of water, Flagstaff Lake was created in 1949 by damming the Dead River to harness its power for electricity and flooding the towns of Flagstaff and Dead River Plantation. Today, remains of the abandoned communities lay submerged under a shallow average depth of 18 feet. Lots of nifty local history, warm water, and gorgeous views of the Bigelow Range.
Groceries, gasoline, good cell service, a great view, and a decent selection of adult beverages if you'd like to supplement the beer, wine, and cider we'll be serving.
A delicious restaurant on beautiful Lake Webb in Weld, south of Rangeley. We get dinner and drinks here at least once on our annual September trip.
