Travel Note
Many of you have asked for tips and advice traveling to Southeast Asia. Here are a few pointers we recommend: - Use a private browser to search for flights on websites like Google Flights, Expedia, and Travelocity. Our personal favorite to use is Google Flights. - Flying from the northeast? We suggest flying out of New York City. - Flying from the west coast? We suggest flying out of Los Angeles or taking a red eye out of San Francisco. - Flying out of Denver? The direct to Tokyo with a flight from Tokyo to Cebu would be your best option. - You will likely have a layover along the way to Cebu, We recommend avoiding Manila as much as possible. Try getting a layover in Tokyo (out of Narita NRT or Haneda HND) or Incheon (ICN). Other common options are Taipei (TPE), Hong Kong (HKG), and Singapore (SIN). - However, if you are looking for a cheaper flight, there are more frequent and cheaper options out of Manila. - Common airlines to look for are Philippine Airlines (via Manila), EVA Air, Korean Air, ANA, Japan Airlines, Qatar Airways, Emirates, and Singapore Airlines. - U.S. passport holders typically need a passport valid for at least 6 months beyond travel dates. Onward or return tickets are often required. If you’d like help choosing routes or timing your arrival, feel free to reach out—we’re happy to help make your trip as smooth as possible.
Travel Note
Most flights will have a layover at Ninoy Aquino International Airport. It is a bustling, busy airport set in the middle of Manila. As a warning, it can get hot in this airport, and there are limited seats if you have a long layover! Many airlines flying out from this location do not provide you with your gate information until they're able to accommodate for your gate, so you may need to check the gate information screens frequently once you arrive.
Travel Note
Taxis: Taxis are readily available in both cities. Always make sure the driver uses the meter to avoid overcharging. Grab: The Grab app is widely used and functions like Uber or Lyft. You'll need a local SIM card or Wi-Fi to use the app.
