8 years ago we both went to volunteer at one of the favelas in Rio called "Lixao do Gramacho" or "Big Trash Can of Gramacho" (if we translate it to English). As per usual, Bea sees Erick just standing around and, with a smile on her face, tells him start helping. On the van ride back to the city center, everyone in the van starts talking and getting to know each other. As Erick and his friend leave the van, they begin discussing how they would get to the metro and Bea and Bianca offer to take them. As the boys walked out of the car and to the metro, Bea waves from inside of the car saying, "Bye, beautiful boy. I'll never see you again." The sisters laugh as they drive off, fully expecting to never meet them again. To her surprise, a few days later, Bea receives a Facebook friend request from her new stalker, Erick. A couple of text exchanges and dates from that point have brought us here. From hiking across Patagonia, raising money for Dodo the Thai elephant, backpacking through Asia, COVID-19, trailer traveling throughout Brazil to living abroad in Georgia and Vietnam. Our relationship began in carnaval and has come full circle to carnaval once again, and we feel so lucky to share it with you all. As you can see, you never know if you'll find a treasure in the middle of the trash. Há 8 anos, nós dois fomos fazer trabalho voluntário em uma das favelas do Rio chamada "Lixão do Gramacho". Como de costume, Bea vê Erick apenas parado e, com um sorriso no rosto, diz para ele começar a ajudar. Na volta para o centro da cidade, dentro da van, todo mundo começa a conversar e se conhecer. Quando Erick e seu amigo descem da van, começam a discutir como fariam para chegar até o metrô — e Bea e Bianca se oferecem para levá-los. Enquanto os garotos saem do carro em direção ao metrô, Bea acena de dentro do carro dizendo: "Tchau, menino bonito. Nunca mais vou te ver." As irmãs riem enquanto dirigem embora, completamente certas de que nunca mais os encontrariam. Para sua surpresa, alguns dias depois, Bea recebe um pedido de amizade no Facebook de seu novo stalker: Erick. Algumas trocas de mensagens e encontros a partir dali nos trouxeram até aqui. De trilhas pela Patagônia, arrecadação de fundos para o Dôdô, o elefante tailandês, mochilão pela Ásia, COVID-19, viagens de trailer pelo Brasil até morar na Geórgia e no Vietnã — nosso relacionamento começou no Carnaval e deu a volta completa para o Carnaval novamente. E nos sentimos muito sortudos por poder compartilhar isso com todos vocês. Como podem ver, nunca se sabe quando você vai encontrar um tesouro no meio do lixo.
