Bailey and Drew’s love story began in the Fall of 2016 at East Carolina University in Greenville, NC. At the time, Bailey was a sophomore and Drew was a senior—oddly enough, their Greek life houses were right next to each other, but they had never crossed paths. That changed over fall break when Bailey decided to stay in town instead of heading home. A few of her sorority sisters invited her to crash at the ZTA house, and that first night, the group wandered over to the neighboring fraternity and kicked off a spontaneous game of flip cup—a classic party game where players race to drink from a plastic cup, then flip it upside down by flicking the rim. Bailey found herself across the table from a guy who didn’t tell her his name, only asked for hers. Never one to back down from a challenge, she beat him (though he still won’t admit it), and that mystery boy was, of course, Drew. Later, as Drew manned the music, he queued up “Always Alright” by Alabama Shakes—a song Bailey loved. The moment she heard it, she texted her friends: “I am in love with this boy but I don’t know his name.” Then Hurricane Matthew hit, flooding the Tar River and unexpectedly extending fall break by ten days. Night after night, the girls returned to the fraternity house, and night after night, Drew and Bailey gravitated toward each other. They became an inseparable duo, especially when dominating pool games together—a clear sign this was something special. Eight and a half years later, after navigating long-distance and always choosing each other, Drew proposed on March 29, 2025. Their story began with a song, a flip cup win, and a hurricane—and it’s only gotten better from there.
