Flight
San Francisco Airport will have the most flight options, and is a 2-hour drive to downtown sonoma. you can drive right through San Francisco, or stay a night there, and cruise right over the Golden Gate Bridge!
Flight
Oakland Airport will have fewer flight options (still plenty!) and a shorter drive time of 1.5 hours. it's equidistant to SF and has a subway line in!
Flight
Sacramento Airport will offer the least flight flexibility, but it is a quick 1 - 1.5 hour drive avoiding SF/bay area traffic. it's just NE of wine country
Rental Car
strongly encouraged for convenience and price. the bay area is full of drivers. often much more affordable, even over a few-days-stretch, than renting a car
Travel Note
san francisco, where we call home, is a wonderful pit stop between SFO/OAK and wine country
