forever + always

JR and I grew up about 15 minutes from each other in neighboring West Texas towns. We first met when at the city pool in Sundown. As fate would have it, we reconnected years later and have mostly been inseparable since.

Each year that we've been together, JR and I have made a yearly snowboarding trip to Pagosa Springs, CO, to board Wolf Creek. Last year, I didn't even think twice when JR invited family and friends on our annual trip. We got to the mountain as it opened on Friday. JR told me he asked the mountain photographers to take group photos of all of us at around 1 o'clock on the Bonanza Lift. Still blissfully oblivious, I agreed. At 1 o'clock, we got on the lift to take us up the mountain for these photos. Much to my surprise, everyone else declined to get in the photos. The photographer sneakily had JR get down on one knee and from there he asked the sweetest question. I couldn't say anything but YES! Then, JR's sweetness went to the wind as he quickly told me he would put the ring back in the box in his backpack and I could get it when we got to the bottom of the mountain so I didn't lose it. I was completely surprised and won't ever forget this day!!
