Question

There are two Catholic churches in Richmond with Sacred Heart in the name. Which one is correct?

Answer

Cathedral of the Sacred Heart! The address is 823 Cathedral Pl, Richmond, VA 23220. It is in downtown Richmond directly across the street from Monroe Park. If you see a white marble church, you're in the right place. If you pull up to a red church in a residential neighborhood, you are at the wrong church (we did this the first time, too).

Question

What time should I arrive for the ceremony?

Answer

Please be prepared to arrive at the church no later than 10:45 am. If you are driving, allocate extra time to find parking!

Question

What is the dress code for the ceremony?

Answer

Because it may be a warm spring day, we encourage our guests to dress comfortably in their favorite spring attire. However, the Cathedral's A/C is great - so we suggest you bring a shawl or jacket! All guests are encouraged to cover their shoulders and knees while in the Cathedral in accordance with Catholic church tradition.

Question

Where should I park for the ceremony?

Answer

The Cathedral of the Sacred Heart is in downtown Richmond, so allocate extra time for parking if you choose to drive. You may be able to find street parking or there is metered 2 hour parking and several nearby paid lots.

Question

I’ve never been to a Catholic wedding ceremony? What should I expect?

Answer

Catholic wedding ceremonies are steeped in tradition and ritual, which is beautiful but may feel overwhelming if you’ve never been part of one before! Here is a great guide explaining what to expect at a Catholic wedding ceremony: https://www.weddingwire.com/wedding-ideas/catholic-wedding-ceremony. In a nutshell, you can anticipate that the service will last approximately one hour. The ceremony will take place during a Nuptial Mass, which includes readings of the Liturgy of the Word, followed by the Rite of Marriage (aka the exchange of vows and rings), and Liturgy of the Eucharist (communion). During communion, non-Catholic guests or those not prepared to receive communion may come forward for a blessing with arms crossed over their chests, or may choose to stay seated and silently express good thoughts or prayers for the couple.

Question

Where is the reception?

Answer

The reception is at the Linden Row Inn at 100 E Franklin St, Richmond, VA 23219. It is a short walk (0.6 miles) or drive (0.9 miles) from the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart.

Question

When can we start the reception party?

Answer

To support social distancing and help out our vendors, PLEASE do not enter the courtyard before the reception starts at 12:30. We want to take a sneak peak that morning too, but our awesome venders need every minute to get set up for our party after the ceremony. Thanks for helping out!

Question

I have a food allergy!

Answer

We got you! Send us a text or email at bccrone@gmail.com by April 5, 2021 and we will work with the caterer to make sure we have food options for you.

Question

Is there a shuttle to and/or from the reception?

Answer

A shuttle will not be provided. However, the church ceremony and reception are within a 10-15 minute walk or a short Uber ride from each other!

Question

Which airport and hotel should I use?

Answer

We encourage all guests to book using the discounted group rate at the Linden Row Inn. You can find comprehensive hotel and airport information and comparisons on the TRAVEL section of this website.

Question

Are there any other events that I should know about around the wedding?

Answer

Yes! On Friday night, Mike and Baylee and their families will be hanging out nearby at Blue Bee Cider from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Come by to try a cider from our favorite cidery! On Saturday afternoon, Mike and Baylee invite you to join them for an after party in the heart of Richmond's brewery district called Scott's Addition. See the "Schedule" section for more details.
