How We Met

May 2014

Bay and Spencer were introduced in 2014 when Spencer's sister, Cayley, was in town. After a heated debate about 80s music and just a little flirting, the two went in different directions. A couple of months later, Bay pestered a mutual friend to invite Spencer to karaoke night. The two hit it off and went on many more dates (the first being to IKEA). BADA BING BADA BOOM.

How He Asked

October 2, 2020

Bay thought the plan was a quiet birthday trip to Galveston. The two packed a few swimsuits and their dog, Sassy. When Spencer turned off into a neighborhood, Bay suspected something was up... SURPRISE! The couple's close friends had pitched in for an Airbnb. There were balloons, cake, and countless White Claws. The next day, the proposal plans were set into motion. The couple's friend Ana, a wedding photographer, asked the couple to take photos on the beach "for her new website." Meanwhile, Spencer had Bay's grandmother's ring burning a hole in his pocket. While Bay was working the camera, Spencer was frantically texting the rest of the group to get their butts to the beach for the big moment. Then, Sassy, the hero of our story (see photos for reference), came galloping toward them wearing a bandana that said, "Papa has a question." Bay bent down to pet her, and when she turned around, Spencer was on one knee. Words were exchanged, but neither can remember exactly what was said -- lovely word vomit. Champagne was popped, and they all enjoyed a yummy chicken dinner (thanks to great friends)!
