How We Met

#Vanceofalifetime

We know what you’re thinking, “I hope this isn’t one of those romantic little love stories that make me want to gag instantly.” Well, too bad - it is! This story began on a brisk Saturday in September of 2017. The 9th of September to be precise. It was a rather normal day for Kelly, our avid runner, as she was about to embark on a quick little six-mile jaunt through the more scenic side of downtown Richmond. It wasn’t quite the same situation for Jake, our not-so avid runner, as he was attempting to run the longest consecutive distance he had ever run – eight whopping miles – through some of the roughest parts of downtown Richmond. Nevertheless, it was a gorgeous day to start this adventure. The team that Jake and Kelly were running on had met that morning prior to the race. During this meeting Jake’s sleepy-headed self mistook Kelly for someone else’s wife. Fortunate for him, that was not the case. At the same time, Kelly had some strong feelings about “some guy” (Jake) driving his brewery’s car to another brewery as she found it to be rather insulting. Nonetheless, there was an instant spark the moment they met. They just wouldn’t realize what it meant until after Kelly jetted through her six miles and Jake struggled to complete his eight (I’m serious people, he was limping across the finish line with at least half the muscles in his body cramping. Beer was the only thing that got him across the finish. Well, that and Kelly yelling at him to put his race shirt on and hurry up. From that moment on Kelly would be “motivating” Jake from here until the end of their days. Ok. Maybe not from that exact moment, but shortly thereafter. Following the race, the soon-to-be couple were able to escape the crowds and their team to enjoy one another’s company at (you guessed it) another brewery. Over several beers and the appropriate amount of time it takes to get to know the love of your life, the spark that was ignited blazed into an ever-burning flame.
