Flight

Los Angeles (LAX), Long Beach (LGB), or Orange County (SNA)

We recommend flying into LAX, LGB, or SNA. Each has a ferry port conveniently close and Uber-able (San Pedro, Long Beach, or Newport, respectively), so no need to rent a car! We recommend checking ferry times and availability and planning flights accordingly.

Travel Note

Ferry to Catalina Island

We recommend booking your ferry ride with Catalina Express out of San Pedro or Long Beach, or with Catalina Flyer out of Newport. Tickets are available now! Some specifics: - Ferries often sell out—especially in summer—so we definitely recommend booking tickets as early as possible and planning flights accordingly. - The ferry ride is about 1 hour. - Your final location will be Avalon, Catalina. Most ferries are direct, but some take you through Two Harbors first, another short stop on the island that extends the ride to about 2.5 hours. - The final ferry of the night to Catalina is typically around 7pm, so plan flights accordingly! - For ferries from Newport only, there is a seperate Catalina Flyer website. For tickets, please visit https://www.catalinainfo.com/reservations.html. - There is paid parking at all the ferry ports, if you'd like to drive there and leave your car, but all are also Uber-able from airports. - The last ferry ride back from Catalina is around 9:30pm.

Travel Note

Helicopter to Catalina Island

If you're feeling more adventurous, Maverick Helicopters also offers 15-25 minute long helicopter rides to and from Catalina! These take off periodically throughout the day from the Santa Monica Airport in Santa Monica and Queen Mary Terminal in Long Beach. Looks beautiful!
