Question

Are you still having a wedding in NJ/NYC?

Answer

Unfortunately, we are not planning to do so at this time. We are disappointed that we won't be able to have the party we pictured, but we will hopefully find time to celebrate with everyone, eventually, when it is safe to do so.

Question

I have concerns about COVID, will this event be safe to attend?

Answer

We get it. We chose to have a smaller wedding in New Mexico because it is more suitable for a safe, socially-distanced, outdoor ceremony. Based on our research, flying (where masks are required) is very low risk. The hotel we're recommending is taking health and safety precautions. We'll also be working with our caterer to ensure that all food and drinks are served following recommended health practices. We'll be seating households together and requiring masks for mingling. And while we estimate that about 80% of our guests are already vaccinated, we are also planning on purchasing rapid covid tests for those who are not. All this keeping in mind we are expecting an improved situation and lower case-count by summer. We will of course cancel if it is unsafe.

Question

How should I dress?

Answer

Fun, dressy, and festive! Since the party is outdoors, we recommend wearing shoes that won't get stuck in the ground (ie. no stilettos). Also, bring something to put on for later in the evening when the temperature drops. Summer evenings in Northern New Mexico are beautiful, but can be a bit chilly.

Question

Is there parking nearby?

Answer

There is limited driveway space for parking, please carpool where possible. There will be a shuttle for guests staying at El Rancho from the hotel to the wedding and back.

Question

How do I get to Ramah? Where do I stay?

Answer

Please check out our travel page for more details. In sum, if coming from out of state, we recommend flying into ABQ. We have arranged a block of rooms for our guests at El Rancho Hotel in Gallup, NM. We will be coordinating transportation from the hotel to the wedding and back. Another option is to rent an RV which can be parked in Ramah. You can also camp on the Basham property! If you're interested in exploring this, please let us know. As the date nears, we will reach out to you all to try and help coordinate transportation and/or carpooling from the airport.

Question

How/when did you get engaged?!

Answer

There wasn't any particular question popped or a moment when things changed, but rather a series of moments that started the weekend we met.... kind of as an April Fools joke, but when we said it out loud, it didn't sound so bad.

Question

Most importantly, will Yazzie be there?

Answer

Do you even have to ask?

Question

Isn't New Mexico really hot in July?

Answer

The weather varies greatly by region. Ramah is at very high altitude (over 7,000 feet), so it does not get as hot as you'd expect. In early July we expect it will get to mid-80s during the day (but remain cool in the shade) and drop to mid-60s after sunset. It will likely be hotter in Albuquerque. (But, it's a "dry heat" so still not so awful). Bring sunscreen!
